On the Avon again but this time in the search for barbel amongst some deep merky pools.

Find said pool with signs of barbel gaily meandering without but a care in the world…

…wade all stealth like through clouds of sedge and aim fly at said barbel…

P7270081

…bounce fly off rock in barbels holding area, watch indicator like a hawk and…

P7270089

…catch two peachy chub… doh!

P7270082

The smile of disappointment – I think not!

Twins!, according to the Mcleans they both weighed in at exactly 2.5lb each…

I’ve not caught a barbel on the fly now for some years although perhaps not really for want of trying… seeing plenty at the moment but hell can I get close enough to make anything stick… No I can’t!
