A pilgrimage with Ian May to Ulverston, Cumbria in search of ‘talent extraordinaire’… in essence a weekend spent splitting carbon with good friends Paul Procter & Tony Riley.
Somewhere on a Tarn in Cumbria… they had all this rare wet stuff falling from the sky, I forget its name now but I’d not seen any of it here in the South for some 12 months or so ![]()
Tony chooses a tool of mass destruction

Coming to a Screen near you
… ‘Strictly come casting’… visual poetry from a couple of Masters

Wined & Dined ‘au naturel’… a Kelly kettle full of water from the Tarn ![]()
Paul reverts back to type… that of a pyromaniac from his early teen years.

Relaxing to watch Ian May with a double hander, he’s doing an AAPGAI exam this coming Friday

We debate tip rotation through the stroke of jump rolls & spey casts… as well as stuff… and more stuff. All this stuff is priceless and something you can’t put a value on.

I just shouted a lot

then we put some of the stuff into practice, making it work within our own unique styles

both single and double handed… it all seemed relevant

Paul had some rather unique yet disturbing nuances on how to improve your overall technique ![]()

There’s never a dull moment… AAPGAI Provisional, Advanced and Master assessments take place at the back end of this week so as ever I look forward to catching up with some great friends… now to log off and work on my demo content for the Open Day on Saturday… I hope to see you there.
If you feel the need and are ever up in the Cumbria area and want some fishing or casting guidance: Paul Procter, Lee Cummings, Tony Riley or Jim Fearn are as good as it gets… look em up!
