A great afternoon on the Test for a final grayling forage before the season ends next week. A shiny white demo Aqua gets its first wetting along with a new dreamy 36ft tapered casting leader, for single fly nymphing and dry fly this was absolute heaven. I coated it white with the exception of the final 10ft for the purpose of some filming and photography which was another reason for todays jaunt.
That’s not a fly line… ‘No fly lines were harmed in the production of this film’
That’s enough… I’m not sharing anymore… ![]()
The new rod and leader is brought to life with some Sensas Art

Some of Warrens PTN variants adorned the leaders point placement

Switching to various olive looky likeys mid afternoon during some sporadic hatches

On a blustery afternoon whilst managing to successfully avoid trout, Richard, Warren and I were soon tensioning leaders and lines via flexing carbon on some willing grayling.
Warren fishing on his knees lands a nice fish from a deep run – Richard looks on.

My first is enticed using a free swimming caddis fished just sub surface

Warren nails another grayling using a cdc LDO variant

We couldn’t avoid them all however…

… a rather lean trout nails my red neck PTN

Making haste for the lower reaches, we start to pick up grayling in quick time… another sweetie

Hells bells… trout number 2, thankfully this was the last…

… only grayling from here on in!

So with a bit of leader testing and excellent grayling fishing to boot, and not forgetting to mention the great company that is Warren and Richard… my grayling season concludes on a high.
That’ll be trouting next week then! ~ have a great start to the new season ALL
Finally I’m pleased to announce that Warren will be the feature fly tyer for the Eat~Sleep~Fish monthly online ezine… if you’ve not yet read it, have a look!
